Using cPanel integrated function for WordPress Backup

We have two option for cPanel backup, Full backup and Partial Backup.

First we will learn about full backup.

WordPress Backup: Full Backup Method.

Full Backup generates a compressed copy of your entire cPanel account and website.
It includes all databases, files, subdomains, email accounts, email lists, etc.
You can not restore your website using the cPanel interface.
Your hosting provider is capable of restoring the website using this zipped backup. You need to upload the full zipped backup file into your website’s home directory and ask the hosting provider to restore the website.

A full backup is beneficial when you need to transfer a website from the current host to another host.

To take the website’s full backup, please follow these steps.

Steps:

Go to the cPanel and find Files section

Click “Backup” in the file section.

Now you will see the next screen. At the top section under Full Backup
Click the “Download a Full Account Backup” Button

In the next section, Select the Backup destination (Home Directory) and Email address.
Backup Destination is used to save the database after the completion of the backup and the email address is used to receive a message after completion of database backup.

Now click “Generate Backup”
After clicking Generate Backup you will see Backup Progress Message.

After completion, if you select the backup destination as Home Directory, you can find your Full backup zip file in your home directory.

You can download it and save it for future use to transfer the website or restore the website if something happens badly.

WordPress Backup: Partial Backup Method.

In a partial backup, we can download the website’s different components individually. Using cPanel, you can restore these individual backups yourself.

You have the option to download your website’s Howe Directory, Database, Email accounts, Email Forwarders, and Email Filters.

For partial WordPress Backup follow the step ahead.

It is similar to full backup follow all the steps as in full WordPress backup, after reaching the backup page, Under the Full backup section you can find the Partial Backup section.

Here you can see the download Home Directory button. To download the Home Directory click the “Home Directory” button.

Under that, a Databases list is shown, and you can select a database and download it.

Next under the “Database” you can see Download Email Forwarder.
You can select the email and download it.

Restore WordPress Backup

In partial backup, you can restore the home directory, databases, email forwarders, and email filters.
You can see on the right side of the download button, there are upload buttons.
You can click these buttons to upload and restore the home directory, databases, email forwarders, and email filters.
Click the upload button, select the WordPress backup file from your local drive, and restore the backup.
Don’t be confused if the cPanel interface in your case is different. Although there may be little differences according to the cPanel version or hosting, but steps will be similar
